AUSTIN, Texas, February 23, 2021 – In a twelve-month period that has already seen its share of unprecedented events, Winter Storm Uri packed a wallop on the Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma regions. Bringing record-breaking low temperatures and snowfall, the storm brought with it catastrophic power outages and water line breaks. It is estimated that recovery costs for the area will top $200 billion dollars.
Altrua HealthShare, headquartered in Austin, Texas, was literally in the center of the storm and had first-hand experience in watching the damage unfold. “As we watched all the damage and challenge that Winter Storm Uri brought to the Texas / Louisiana / Oklahoma region, it became clear that we could help make a difference, ” says Altrua HealthShare’s COO John Capezzuti. “Our guiding principle at Altrua HealthShare is to care for one another, to bear one another’s burdens, and this is a way we can help in that for those who have been so deeply impacted by this storm.”
Altrua HealthShare members in Texas and in the affected areas of Oklahoma and Louisiana will be receiving $100 checks for any health-related needs that have resulted from the storm. Says Randy Sluder, CEO of Altrua HealthShare, “We pray that this will be a blessing to you, your family, or community as needed. If you find that you personally do not need this check, we will request that you find a neighbor or someone else in need of the $100 and pass this check along to them.”
During this ongoing crisis, members will continue to receive excellent service from the Altrua HealthShare Member Services Team, which is available with no change to operating hours.
