The Dove-award-winning, Grammy-nominated American Idol star married his high school sweetheart in 2004, only to lose her four years later to complications following surgery for a heart condition. He’s spoken candidly about his fear and his anger at her passing. And he also shares how his story has helped others feel not as alone in their own challenges. In an article by Ryan Zepeda on God Reports, Gokey says that he ultimately learned that his experience brought comfort to others. ““I heard story after story,” he (Gokey) says. His heart warmed because God had used his testimony of grief to rescue others in grief and depression,” the article states.
Today, Gokey is remarried and is a father. And he’s recently been named Altrua HealthShare’s newest brand ambassador. He joins other fellow Altrua HealthShare members such as artist Jordan Feliz, podcaster Kait Warman Tomlin, and top tournament angler Cody Ryan Greaney.
