It’s happening this Saturday and it’s a great thing for your health!

Spring is, well, springing, and it has a lot of ways it makes a big difference in how you feel.

Check out a few of the top ways that spring puts some spring in your step!

  1. More daylight. The daylight hours get a little longer and that can mean a smaller waistline, an elevated mood, more clarity of mind, and better sleep for you.
  2. You burn some good calories spring cleaning. ‘Tis the season of organizing, scrubbing, tossing, and landscaping. And all that activity adds up. According to Malia Frey, a health and fitness coach, “a 150-pound person will burn 200 calories per hour while doing housework.”
  3. Your skin and hair are living their best life. All the dry conditions of harsh indoor heat and harsher cold weather take a toll on your hair and your skin, leaving your frazzled and itchy. When spring’s balmier days take the wheel, your coiffure and complexion get much happier!
  4. The fruit and veggie section of the store gets better, as does your nutrition. Produce like kale, arugula, artichokes, and radishes reach their peak in the spring (you can find a great list of spring produce here). You’ll probably find yourself wanting to reach for healthier options as your body transitions from winter’s munchies to spring’s veggies and salads, so take advantage of it!

Spring offers up more opportunities to get outside, to renew your fitness goals, and to enjoy the nutritious bounty of the season. Enjoy those extra daylight hours and put them to good use this year — your overall health will thank you!
