The beginning of the year is a great time to get those yearly check-ups scheduled and on the calendar. And if you’re a female age 40 or over or a male 50 or older, you’ll want to get your required tests taken care of as well. Here’s some great information on how to find a great healthcare provider and how to let them know about Altrua HealthShare.

How do I find an in-network provider/affiliated provider?

As an Altrua HealthShare Member, you have access to one of the largest healthcare networks through MultiPlan/PHCS. The MultiPlan/PHCS network is a network of medical doctors and facilities that Altrua HealthShare utilizes in order to provide a broader choice of healthcare providers offering discounted services to their members. To find providers in your area, go to this link.

What if my provider doesn’t accept or doesn’t know about Altrua HealthShare?

You may on occasion face a situation where a provider won’t accept Altrua HealthShare. What should you do? 

First, make sure they know that you are part of a membership that is part of the MultiPlan / PHCS network. While not all medical providers are familiar with Altrua HealthShare, many of them work with the MultiPlan / PHCS network, so it’s important to let them know.

If your provider will still not accept the Altrua HealthShare Member ID card on the Altrua HealthShare App, ask if they can apply a self-pay discount. Additionally, ask for a ‘superbill’. It will contain important information needed to help process your medical need. You will only be reimbursed for eligible medical needs for the services that were provided.
